<p>Formed on Dec. 18, 1860, the Nanuet Fire Engine Company started as the Torrent Engine Company No. 1 and&nbsp; is Rockland County's&nbsp; sixth-oldest company. Its present name was adopted on April 5, 1862,&nbsp;which was&nbsp;when it received its charter. On April 1, 1945, the firehouse burned down, and was rebuilt soon after.
